Another Hero Arts card for HA Blog Colorit challenge

Yes Arlene, don't laugh, it's Hero Arts again....

I just bought this cute Hero Arts Christmas bird yesterday, just love it! I colored it with my Copics markers and added a little glitter. I also bought this beautiful SEI Winter Paper (the red check is the reverse side of the blue and red dots). Just love the pale turquoise and red combination. I had bought the Christmas greeting at the end of the season last year. Used an old Fiskar Border punch for the Holly border. Thanks for looking!

Another card for the Hero Arts "Color It" challenge

You might be able to tell by now if you visit my blog regularly that I love to color. So since the challenge on the Hero Arts Blog this week is to colour images, I have been colouring (instead of doing what I'm supposed to do.....).

So here is another card. The image is another Hero Arts bouquet, colored with Copics. I cut the image with a Nestabilities die, then while the image was still in the die, I distressed the edges with Muster Seed distress ink (with a stiff painbrush in a circular motion).

The cardstocks I used are Stampin'Up Rose Red and retired Pink Pirouette (pale pink).
The patterned paper is Basic Grey 6 x 6 Bittersweet.

The ribbon is by American Craft.

The pearl stick is by Maya Road. The 3 pearls on the left are Hero Arts. The bling is Kaiser Craft and the glitter is SU Dazzling Diamonds.

35 years together!!

Today is a very special day! 35 years ago today, Jim and I got married.
It seems like yesterday! Well Jim is still the love of my life and we have two wonderful children and a soon to be daughter-in-law (Bobbie and Marissa are getting married next year...).

We have had many wonderful years together and Jim is still putting up with me :)

I guess the time shows on us - Jim has white hair (I hide mine) but I can't do anything about my double chin.....

This week's challenge on Hero Arts

This week's challenge by Jennifer McGuire on the Hero Arts Blog is to colour an image! Can you imagine! My card from yesterday would fit in exactly. Colouring is my favorite thing to do! I have so many images coloured and ready to be made in a card.... some of them have been coloured for years and are still waiting :( I find colouring so therapeutic - I love to colour with my Copics, my Trias or my Prismacolor crayons. I also like to watercolour, but not so much lately.

Anyway, I couldn't wait to make another card. (Actually I colored 2 images, hopefully the second image will make it into a card also....)

I love the Hero Arts flower bunches - I must own 10 different flower bouquet stamps. So here is a different one from what I used yesterday. I coloured the image with Copics. I cut the image with Nestabilities and ink the edges of the ovals while it was still in the Nestability die. (I used Tim Holtz Linen Distress ink and a stiff brush).

The ribbon is from my stash. The CS is Bazzill. The patterned paper is Basic Grey Lemonade (the 6 x 6 pad).

The greeting is also by Hero Arts stamped in Memento Brown ink (I also inked the edges with the Memento Brown ink pad). It was cut with SU Oval punch.

The pearls are by KaiserCrafts.

Hero Arts - Mail it challenge

So the holidays are almost over - Jim goes back to work tomorrow! I'll have to get back to my regular schedule and catch on all my websites surfing, my Stampin'Up business and I have many classes to prepare!

To get back into things, I visited the Hero Arts Website today to find out what the challenge was for this week. It is to make a card to mail to someone. So I have many overdue Thanks yous and Birthday cards to do, so here is one down, many more to go.... LOL

This is an old Hero Arts stamp, but still one of my favorite. I coloured the image with my Copics markers (I always coloured with watercolors before, but I can of like the Copics results).

I have put gems in the center of the flowers and glitter on the little branches between the flowers, but it might not show very much on the picture.

The picture was taken with flash so it is a little bright - sorry. The base cardstock is Gina K. Designs cs, very thick! I love it for card bases. It was embossed with a Sizzix folder (not plate, but their new folders). The only problem is that it is smaller and leaves a mark in the middle when you do the second pass. I put a ribbon on the mark to hide it. I also put a strip of patterned paper on the left to hide the little gap because the folder did not quite make it across my card. The pp was cut with the SU scallop border punch. The 2 lilac patterned papers are by Stampin'Up (almost amethyst I think). The bling in the flowers is Hero Arts, so are the mini pearls on the butterfly. The butterfly is a Hero Arts stamp (comes in a group of 4). The ink is Kaleidoscope ink (on the butterfly and greeting). The glitter is SU Dazzling Diamonds.

The "Hi There" is also an Hero Arts stamps (clear stamp).

The ribbon is from Michaels.

I cut around the flower pot as described by Sally on the Hero Arts Blog. Fun technique! Hi Sally! I met Sally at the Hero Arts Booth at CHA. Such a nice lady! Wish I had had more time to sit and chat!

Merci pour Phoebe

We are back from Holidays (late last night). So this morning, we had to go pick up Phoebe's ashes from the vet. She was very special to us, so she deserves to be remembered in a little corner of her backyard. This is very hard, even more because we came back from holidays to an empty house. Jim and I (and the kids) miss her so much... we think that we hear or see her all the time. It's very hard to realize she is no longer with us. The most difficult part is coming home and opening the door and to realize that there will be no "greeting". No matter what, she always got up and came to the door to greet us and then she let other people know that you were home! Talk about feeling special! Well I miss my special greeting so much!!! Anyway, if you come to my blog it is to see cards, not too hear me cry about my Phoebe.

I did a card to bring to the vet today to say Thank you for all the special attention that Dr. Blain gave to my Phoebe. She always took the time to listen to my concern and she always had so many nice compliments for my Phoebe. They really liked her at the clinic. The whole staff has been extremely nice over Phoebe's 13 years. We also found out that Dr. Blain lost her own dog on the same day Phoebe died, August 3rd. Her little one was only 5 years old, but quite sick. It still hurts a lot and poor Dr. Blain was there giving us sympathies when she was suffering herself...

So here is the card I made. I think that the stamped image looks a little like my Phoebe. I colored it my Copics in Phoebe's colors. I also put a photo of Phoebe inside the card.

Nova Scotia

A little notebook

I love those little notebooks.

Just cover 2 pieces of chipboards with pretty coordinating patterned papers.
Add a coil at the top with Zutter Bind-it-all.

Add a post-it note pad inside.

Decorate the top with ribbons and embellishments.

The papers I used are from Stampin'Up, as well as the embellishments and
ribbon. Infact, it's all Stampin'Up.

Thank you to everyone who left a nice comment on my post "A very sad day". I know it will take a long time to stop seeing and hearing Phoebe around the house... and I miss her greeting at the door the most... but reading the nice comments that people left (here and on Flickr) helps for sure. Thanks so much for your sympathy. I appreciate.

On a happy note, Marissa, Bobbie's Fiancee, celebrated her birthday this weekend. We couldn't be there so we took her to the restaurant for supper.

A very sad day

Today is a very sad day. This morning my Phoebe, my 13-year old lab died in our arms.

We were the whole family together, Julie and Bobbie came to be with her when Jim and I saw that Phoebe was in distress - she was having difficulty breathing...

We were out on the deck, her favorite spot, the sun was shining on her and the birds were chirping. She left us slowly while we were talking softly to her and rubbing her beautiful soft ears. The best dog in the world died being the best dog in the world. She died peacefully with all of us there. Not last week while I was at CHA and not next week when Julie would have been alone with her while Jim and I go for a little holiday. She was the best dog in the world. I already miss you my Pheebes... Life will not be the same without you! Rest in peace my beautiful Phoebe and I am hoping that you are running the green fields of heaven without pain in your hips!

If you are reading this, think about us - this is not an easy time.

Here is my lovely Phoebe. It is hard to admit that she's gone!
