Boy oh boy!

My daughter Julie, who is my best customer, asked me to make a Baby Boy card for her for a new Baby Boy named Noah.

I wanted to use my Whipper Snapper Designs stamp set, so I found the poem with the definition of "What are little boys made of" on the Internet and wrote it in the inside of the card.

In case you don't remember the poem, here it is:

What are little boys made of?

What are little boys made of?

Frogs and snails, and puppy-dogs tails,

And such are little boys made of.

So my stamp set was perfect! It had a frog, a puppy, a dirty little boy and bugs.... I used a "masking technique" to be able to have the little boy in front of the truck and his hat on his head, without seeing his hair through the cap.... :)

I also had those little alphabets beads, so I wrote Noah's name just below the image.

The patterned paper I used is something else I was hoarding and as I said before, I will try to use my old stuff... so this is patterned paper by Debbie Mums... so cute, most of the sheets have glitter or raised parts on them...

I colored the images with Copics markers, then I applied some Glossy Accents on some parts of the image: the wheels, bumpers and windows of the truck, the frog's eyes, the bug's wings and the greeting on the card: Boy oh Boy....

I cut the image and the mat with Nestabilities. I also sponged some Distress ink (Old Paper) on the edges of the stamped image before removing the Nestabilitie die.

The cardstock base is Stampin'Up Cardstock.

Happy St-Pat's Day

I don't usually make St-Pat's day cards, but I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire's post on another blog yesterday, where she used a digital image to make a beautiful butterfly card.

So I purchased the shamrock and old writing digital images and made this card with them. I distressed the edges of the image with Distress inks Peeled Paint and Shabby Shutters. I printed an extra small shamrock and applied it over top of the matching one on the card. Then I applied Glossy Accents on it....

I printed the greeting on my computer and used another one of Jennifer's techniques to make the banner.

The card base and mat are cardstocks by Stampin'Up.

The digital images are by Hero Arts.

A new card with a very old stamp....

In another company's blog, they were talking about and showing digital images.... I have mentioned a few times how much I love digital images... I've almost given up on Stampin'Up letting us having digital images in Quebec, but that's another issue....

Anyway, turns out that I own the original stamps of those digital images and while looking for the stamp in my collection, I found an almost finished card made with that stamp. So I finished putting it together.... The main image was plain green (the whole card was monochromatic). I colored the main image with Distress Inks using a little Tsukinedo stump for blending.
The little leaves under the image were made with a single punch of a Fiskar border punch. The base of the card was stamped with a smaller version of the same tulip stamp.

(I realize that it looks a little greyish, but it is a very pretty soft green in real life.)

New card

A new Flower card for a challenge....

The stamp image and the greeting are by Hero Arts. The image is colored with Copic markers.
The ribbon is silk from my stash.... been saving this one a looonnng time....

The card base is also by Hero Arts, and the mauve paper is by Lasting Impressions.

I have been cleaning my stamp room and found all those supplies from before my Stampin'Up days....

I did a bit of sewing around the image....

The little bit of green under the image was cut with a Martha Stewart Border punch.

Little Miss card

Another card to send to Jennifer McGuire card drive for sick kids.

This is an old Penny Black stamp from my collection. It is dated 1999, long before my Stampin'Up days.... Anyway these old stamps are back on the market, so I'm happy to take mine out and colour them with my Copics.

The card base is Stampin'Up Rich Razzlebury cardstock, and the ribbon Rich Razzlebury Polka Dots Gros Grain. The bluish green patterned paper is DCWV Green stack and cut with a Quickutz border die. The button is Stampin'Up and I put a pearl in the center. The image was cut with Nestabilities, as well as the mat (this was a scrap, I think that it is Stampin'Up Baja Breeze). The words are from a Cuttlebug die.

Swaps for Club night

Here are the cards that I made for our Club meeting swap and the Thank you card for my hostess, Amy.

First the swap card. We had to do a "shaped" card, anything but square or rectangle.

I was amazed at what the ladies came up with - very different and clever. I did not forget my camera this time, but the batteries were dead... So Amy lent me her camera and she will send me the photos by email later on. So this time, you'll get to see them all, but a little later.

So here is my card. It was round (not too original I know....) and I used the flowers from the new Stampin'Up set Vintage Vogue. I glittered the flowers with my favorite technique, Stampin'Up Heat and stick covered with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

Supplies: Sizzix scallop die for base of card, Covered with Sizzix SU exclusive clear circle die.

Flowers from the Vintage Vogue set 118598, Cardstock Melon Mambo and Rich Razzlebury, with the circle in Old Olive. The saying is from the Well Scripted set (#118601), also from the Occasions catalog.

I used the new punch from the mini Occasions catalog: The bird on a branch.

The paper is retired, but I love those colours, so I bought a lot before it was discontinued.

The border is done with the scallop border punch that you can get for free in the Sale-a-Bration catalog (ask me if you are interested). The ribbon is also retired chocolate chip (not the colour, just the ribbon). The Thank you is from the new set (also from the Occasions catalog). The cardstock is my former favorite Baja Breeze. (so sorry that it retired...).

We had another Stampin'Up Club get together tonight. So much fun... The Francine sat side by side .... what more can I say....! :)

Loved this technique - it gives beautiful results and is quite easy to do.




All the supplies are Stampin'Up, except for the Prismacolor crayons that I used.

Cardstock: Pretty in Pink CS for card base (5 ½ x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”),
Basic black CS for stamping (3 x 4”)
Rich Razzleberry CS (3 ¼ x 4 ¼)
Melon Mambo CS (1 ¾” x 5 ½”)
Ink: Whisper White Craft ink, White embossing powder
Prismacolor crayons: mauve 956 & 970, pinks ? & 971, green 912 & 908

Instructions:
It is best to work with dark cardstock, but I have also seen it done on white or acrylic, as long as you keep the contrast in your coloring, it is pretty!
It is also best to work with solid images to have a surface to colour on with the Prismacolor crayons.
1. Stamp your image in White Craft ink.
2. Heat well with the heat gun to dry.
3. Colour your image with Prismacolour crayons, starting with the palest colour as a background. Cover the white completely.
4. Come back with the darker colour to shade and create contrast. Make sure you leave lots of pale. It is the look of the contrast between the 2 colours that creates the “Magic”.
5. Accent the colored image with a little bit of white with a Signo marker.

Tutoriel pour la carte sans fin (en français)

Quelqu'un m'a demandé de traduire le tutoriel que j'ai fais l'an dernier (ou l'année avant... déjà!).

Ça fait longtemps que je veux le faire, mais je manque toujours de temps... comme tout le monde.

Alors je fais essayer de le faire en utilisant les mêmes photos... Si jamais j'ai le temps, je referai la carte avec un vidéo en français. Ca fait longtemps que je veux m'essayer à faire des vidéos...

Ça prend toujours une première fois... Est-ce que quelqu'un serait intéressé par ce vidéo? Laissez-moi savoir!

Fournitures nécessaires:

1/2 feuille de papier cartonné imprimé à double face, 12 x 12

Ruban adhésif à double face

Papiers et cartons coordonnés pour décorer

Instructions:

Conseil: Lire les instructions au complet avant de commencer pour bien comprendre le principe. C'est très vite à faire si on sait comment.

vert pâle (envers du papier)

vert foncé (dessus du papier)

1. Couper 2 papiers imprimés à 6" x 6" (la précision est très importante quand on fait cette carte - les cartons doivent être exactement de la même grandeur).

2. Faire une ligne de pliure sur chaque carton à 1.5" et à 4.5". Vous aurez alors 2 lignes de pliure avec 1.5" de chaque côté et 3" dans le centre. (voir image ci-dessous).

3. Sur chacun de vos cartons, faites une légère ligne au crayon afin de former un petit carré de 1.5" dans chaque coin (voir image). Vous marquez le dessus d'un carton et le dessous de l'autre.

4. Couper chaque papier exactement au milieu, à 3", perpendiculairement à vos lignes de pliures. Assurez-vous de garder les morceaux avec les lignes de coupe ensemble (Truc: Je fais un petit x dans mes coins de 1.5" x 1.5" pour les distinguer - et aussi quand vient le temps de coller, je sais où mettre ma colle).

5. Places les feuilles avec la ligne de coupe au milieu, une par dessus l'autre, perpendiculairement. Donc on a une feuille côté vert pâle vers le haut, ligne de coupe horizontale. On met par dessus l'autre feuille côté vert foncé vers le haut, ligne de coupe verticale. (vos petits x seront face à face). Assurez-vous de garder les 2 morceaux ensemble avec la ligne de coupe au centre - vous ne voulez pas mélanger vos morceaux.

6. Prenez le papier sur le dessus du côté gauche, retournez-le vers l'envers et appliquez du ruban adhésif à 2 faces sur la surface entière des 2 petits carrés dans les coins (où vous avez mis un X). Il est important de couvrir toute la surface, sans dépasser à l'extérieur, parce que les 4 coins forment les charnières de la carte.

7. a) Le plus précisément possible, placez le coin gauche (collé) sur le coin gauche du papier inférieur. La ligne de coupe du papier inférieur est horizontale. Vous collez dans le coin supérieur à gauche. Assurez-vous de bien aligner les coins et les bords.

Note: Ceci est l'étape critique de l'assemblage de la carte. Si vous collez croche, les rebords vont frotter quand vous essayerez de faire pivoter les niveaux. Tout le reste de la carte dépend de cet alignement, alors assurez-vous que tout est droit.

b) Faites la même chose pour le carré du bas sur le morceau inférieur.

Vous aurez ceci:

8. Maintenant prenez le papier supérieur droit, appliquez du ruban adhésif sur les coins marqués d'un X et collez sur le coin supérieur droit du morceau de papier inférieur (avec la ligne de coupe horizontale) et collez le coin inférieur droit sur le coin à droite sur le papier du dessous. Encore une fois, travaillez aussi précisément possible.

9. C'est tout. Le squelette de votre carte est terminé. Reste à la tester et à la décorer. Pour tester les charnières, ouvrez les 2 panneaux verticaux devant vous (comme 2 portes)

10. Maintenant ouvrez le 1er panneau intérieur. De la ligne de coupe, ouvrez en un vers le haut et l'autre vers le bas.

(vous pouvez voir dans la carte décorée ci-dessus, la ligne de coupe horizontale au milieu - c'est là que vous devez ouvrir chaque section vers le haut et le bas respectivement)

11. La prochaine section vous ramène avec une ligne de coupe verticale que vous ouvrez de la même façon qu'au #9: vers la gauche et vers la droite comme des portes. Alors si vous avez bien fait, tout devrait s'ouvrir sans frottage ni blocage. Si ça frotte ou bloque c'est que vous n'étiez pas assez précise. La perfection s'atteint avec la pratique.

En ouvrant cette section, vous arrivez au dernier panneau, c'est là que vous écrivez votre message, ainsi que votre signature. Notez que vous devez décorez ce panneau dans cette position, sinon ce sera à l'envers.

12. Le truc avec cette carte est d'être aussi précise que possible avec la coupe et l'assemblage de la carte. Une différence très minime entre les panneaux peut causer du frottage lorsque les panneaux sont en rotation. Donc la précision est très importante.

13. Lorsque vous avez terminé l'assemblage, vous pouvez décorer votre carte avec des papiers imprimés, des photos. Vous pouvez aussi étamper où vous voulez. Quand vous décorez, vous devez vous assurer de ne pas couvrir les lignes de pliures ou les lignes de coupe ou que rien ne dépasse des côtés. Un autre petit conseil, décorez les panneaux dans leurs positions finales, sinon vous pouvez vous retrouver avec une image à l'envers lorsque le panneau est ouvert dans sa position finale. Ce qui semble être le dessous de la carte ne l'est pas vraiment...

Vous pouvez décorer avec des photos, ça fait une jolie carte. Assurez vous de couper les photos aux lignes de pliures et de coupes.

14. Vous ne pouvez utiliser d'attaches parisiennes ou boutons ou tout élément décoratif dimensionnels sur cette carte parce qu'ils pourraient gêner le mécanisme de rotation.

Et si vous partagez ces instructions, n'oubliez pas d'indiquer mon nom....

Cette carte peut être faite dans n'importe quelle grandeur que vous désirez.

Celle-ci fait une carte 6 x 6". Vous pouvez faire 3 x 3, 9 x 9, 12 x 12. (J'en ai vu faite en page de scrapbooking à 12 x 12"). Ca n'a même pas besoin d'être un carré. Il vous suffit de mesurer la largeur de la carte et de diviser par 2.

Donc pour notre carte de 6 x 6, on divise par 2, donc on a 2 morceaux de 6 x 3", on divise encore par 2, ce qui fait 1.5", donc la ligne de pliure sera à 1.5 et la ligne de coupe à 3.

Pour une carte de 9 x 9, divise par 2, ligne de coupe à 4.5" et ligne de pliure à 2.25".

Pour un rectangle de 5 x 7, divise 5 (largeur) par 2, ligne de coupe à 2.5, et divise par 2 encore pour ligne de pliure à 2.25.

Valentines for my kids

These are the Valentine's Day cards I made for my kids (Julie, Bobbie and Marissa).

I redid the chef's card for Bobbie and Marissa using different papers, but still Stampin'Up.

The stamp are all Stampin'up, the cardstock (Real Red and Pretty in Pink).

The papers are from the Hostess pad.

The red ink is Stampin'Up Classic Real Red.

The hearts were punched with the Stampin'Up 3-hearts punch.

The chef was paper pieced (Pants and scarf) and colored with Copics.

The bling is Stickles Diamond.

The scalloped circle and circle within were cut with Sizzix dies (the circle is the clear die exclusive to Stampin'Up.

The pink circle was embossed with Cuttlebug "Little hearts" folder.

The red bling is Kayser Crafts.

The second card for Julie is done with a stamped image I received in an exchange with my friends (so I can't remember the Company).

The image is colored with Copics, the glitter is done using a fine glue pen (Sakura Quickie Glue) and ultra fine glitter (Stampendous).

The paper is from Fancy Pants Vintage Valentine.

The ribbon is from my stash.

The little tag was punched with the new Stampin'Up "Jewellery tag" punch (from the new Occasions catalog).

The "Love" stamp is also from the same Catalog (Tiny Tags).

The brown CS is by Stampin'Up (Chocolate Chip).

The little hearts are "Hot fix embellishments" by Kandi (the glue is heat activated).

Pure Innocence

I did another Pure Innocence card. Thanks to Donna Mikasa for the tip on the free digital papers. They are Sugarplum Paperie - Paper Daisies. The digital image is by Heather Ellis, Pure Innocence. Love digital images. I wish that Stampin'up will soon start selling its digital images software (MDS) in Quebec.....!

I colored the image with Copics.
I aged the patterned papers with Distress inks.
The Cardstock is Stampin'Up Baja Breeze (my all time favorite)
The curdory buttons and ribbon are also Stampin'Up Baza Breeze (discontinued).
The hearts and the flower in the girl's hair were done with Art Institute glitter.
The little girl image was cut with a Spellbinder Flower Shape.
The circle is a Sizzix Stampin'Up exclusive clear circle die.
The greeting is by Hero Arts, stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa.
The edges of the flower image were distrissed with Distress ink in Broken China.

I also stiched the edges of the patterned paper. Lucy (England) has a nice tutorial on her blog. (thanks again Donna Mikasa for the tip).

Embossed Resist technique

I did a second attempt at the embossed resist technique as described by Jennifer McGuire on her blog.

I used the same Hero Arts Shadow Flower stamp and an Antique Flower Background stamp (Hero Arts Design Block).

The cardstocks are by Stampin'Up (Tempting Turquoise and new 2010 colour Curry).
the inks are Distress inks.
The butterfly was punched with a Martha Stewart punch.
The ribbon is from my stash and the pearls are from K & Co.
The navy blue cardstock (which looks black on the photo) is actually navy blue shimmer CS.
The background image is stamped on the Turquoise with Versamark Dazzle ink.
Oh and ths time I used regular clear embossing powder.

Happy Birthday in Flowers

Used Distress inks to color the flowers. My first try - not so bad, but I need practice...
