New card - Hero Arts Challenge

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I posted! My apologies to the people who were coming by and found the same old thing! With my computer crashing, I had to reset or redo everything on my new computer and my mind just wasn't there.... I'll spare you the details but let's just say that I'm starting to feel better with my new CPAP machine! I'll let Christmas pass, then should be able to blog a lot more often! I have been coloring a lot of images for Christmas cards, but did not get many finished.

Today the sketch on the Hero Arts Blog got the creative juices flowing and here's a new card I made with the sketch, Hero Arts stamps and Basic Grey Figgy Pudding patterned papers. (It's the same sheet of patterned paper, it's double sided).

The cardstock is Papertrey ink (Thanks Claudia for ordering for us!) and so is the ribbon. The edges of the round image were also shaded with the matching color Papertrey Ink.

The image is colored with Copics markers and the berries are highlighted with Sakura Gelly roll pen.

The pearls are Hero Arts and the border was created with Stampin'Up slot punch.
The circles were cut with Nestabilities.

Another Whipper Snapper Christmas Card

Just a quick post: Another Christmas card with a Whipper Snapper Stamp I bought this weekend (like I needed new Christmas stamps.... LOL)

I just can't resist snowmen!

The image was colored with Tria/Copics markers. The CS and PP is DCWV (a big stack I had in my stash). The image was cut with the new Label nestabilities, the red CS was embossed with a Cuttlebug die. The ribbon is from Michaels and the brad (must check). Oh and the saying is a Bella stamp.

Beate's sketch challenge WSC66 - Snowmen

I bought a bunch of Whipper snapper stamps this weekend. I colored them with my Tria/Copic makers. Put this card together with Beate's weekend sketch.

I turned the image over to accommodate my 3 snowmen. The shapes were cut with Nestabilities. My biggest rectangle frame was too small for the image, so I used a trick I saw on Sharon Harnist's blog: before cutting, I put a piece of rubber on the snowmen's arms that were sticking out, so that they didn't get cut. Then I just trimmed around them.

The ribbon is, I think, American Craft. The bling is from Michaels.

Another Penny Black Christmas card

I have a new computer yeah! Now I can upload all my new cards.

Here is a second one just like the last one I uploaded.  It is another one of  the images I exchanged with my friends. I just love those little Penny Black. I have some old ones, but my friend Claudia has a beautiful collection. This particular stamp has now been retired. It is not available anymore! Just love this image. I colored it with my Tria/Copic markers.  The paper was a gift from my friend (last year's Christmas collection).  The greeting (Tis the season...) is from Hero Arts.  I cut the circle and the scallop with Marvy Mega punches.  The stamped image was cut with a square Nestabilities.  The red and blue cardstock are SU real red, soft sky and Blue Bayou (retired).

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge WSC65

Jim let me use his computer today, so I redownloaded the photos - I don't have Adobe or my watermarks, just it's just plain photos, but here is the front of the card:

The image is from Paperbag Studio.  I colored it with Prismacolors and used a little Shimmerz on the little paper the litlle girl is holding.  The leaves are Hero Arts colored with Prismacolors also.  The green CS is the new Bazzill polka dots and it is cut on the left with a border punch from Martha Stewart.  The ribbon is from my stash.  The greeting (birthday wishes) is from Stamping Up.  The orange and brown CS are Stamping'Up also.

Happy Birthday

A birthday card for my friend Claudia. This is a close-up of the stamped image (PaperBag Studio).
Unfortunately, my Mac crashed and the rest of the images are on it. I am entering this from the little mini c0mputer I got from the bank. It is nice and tiny for travelling, but I find the keyboard difficult to use.

Hopefully, I will be able to get my Mac fixed and retrieve the data and the rest of the images from it. I am pretty lost without my computer.

For this image, I wanted to show the famous Shimmerz that I used to color in the papers the little girl is holding. The little girl was colored with prismacolor (lots of pigments, that why it looks so shiny....).

Mini Halloween cards

Again, for a challenge on the Hero Arts Blog, I made 2 mini cards with the leftovers of last week's challenge.

I used my Hero Arts Halloween stamps and the Doodlebug Halloween papers I had left.

The cards are 4 x 4". The 2 pieces of patterned papers are 2" x 3.5" each. I used ribbon from my stash (from WallMart).

Thank you cards for Jim

Jim recently had a very big surprise birthday party. Lots of friends and family came to celebrate with him.
As a birthday present to him, I made thank you cards in English and French for him to send to his guests.
I kept the same sketch for both cards, just changed the greeting: Merci Beaucoup or Many Thanks.

I used Stampin'up retired (Blue Bayou) for the base of the card (4.5 x 5.5).

The pale blue is the new Bazzill polka dots CS (just love it...). Just rounded all the corners.
The Snoopy image (Stampabilitiese) was stamped in Palette Black and colored with Copics/Tria alcohol markers.
Both circle were cut with Nestabilities circle dies. The green CS is SU Old Olive.

The scallop band (A Bazzill darker blue polka dots CS) was cut with Fiskar Scallop border punch. I glued some pale blue Bazzill to cover the back of the holes in a contrasting color.

I used 3 American Crafts blue brads to finish up.

Happy Halloween Julie and Bobbie

A quick card (again!!!) I made for the weekly challenge on the Hero Arts Blog. The challenge was to make a card using 3 stamps, 3 colors, at least that's the way I understood it. I used 3 Hero Arts Halloween stamps and a photo of my kids at Halloween 24 years ago. I will send each of them of copy of the card for old time sake. (Oh and there was a bonus challenge: use a photo on your project!)

Here is my card:



I printed the photo on watercolor paper to give a little texture and softness. I stamped the images and greeting with Stazon black. I colored the pumpkins with Copics in orange and green.

The background paper is beautiful and is made by Doodlebug design Inc. The purple stars are covered in velvet! (I wish the photo would show it...)

The little orange sparkly star is by Making Memories. The pumpkin in the square was placed sideways and raised with foam dots.

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge WSC63

I just love Beate's sketch challenges. Here is this week's sketch.

I just realized, seeing my card under the sketch that I made a mistake.... the green band and the ribbon should have gone all the way to the edge of the pink... Ah well, let's call it artistic interpretation!

I colored the stamped image (from Great Impressions) with Prismacolor crayons and blended with solvent.
I cut the circles with Nestabilities dies on my Big Shot. It doesn't show very much in the photos, but the lines and X's in the snowlady's cape were covered with glitter pen. More details on the making of the card in the recipe below.

Jim's birthday

It was my husband's Jim birthday this week! We celebrated with the family at the restaurant, then came back home for cheesecake from the Broadway cheesecake. They were yummy! That's Jim and me blowing on the candle!

Another quick one

Another quick card! It seems that it's the only kind I'm doing these days!

Just came back from a beautiful Miata weekend in the Adirondaks. There was still quite a lot of beautiful colours! Enjoyed the ride and the company!

I wanted to hurry and make a card for the Hero Arts blog. The theme this week was "Papers" and I love all the paper companies that were featured. I wish I had had more time to make a few cards, but this one will do!

I used the new Bazzill polka dots. Isn't just beautiful? I loved the Bobunny polka dots, but this one is textured! Just love it!

I used Bazzill Blue Denim CS, the green Polka dots and some pale blue from my scraps. I also used a band of Basic Grey that I thought gave a masculine look to my card. The brads are, I think, by Making Memories. The 2 stamps (cupcake and background words) are Hero Arts. I colored the image with alcohol markers andf pop it with foam dots. I inked the edges of the scalloped pale blue circle with Tim Holtz Distress Old Paper. The circles were cut with Marvy Giga and Super Scallop punchesw. The corners were rounded with Fiskar corner rounder punch.

A "giant" birthday card I made for Jim's surprise b'day party this weekend. (I used an image from another card that I scanned and enlarged on my printer). The final card is about 11 x 13....



The patterned papers and the brads are Basic Grey.

KWernerdesign Colour Challenge

I did a card for another KWerner Colour Challenge (Color Inspiration #25). Love those colours - Certainly celery is my favorite!

Now that I see it on screen, there are a few things that I would change, but the challenge ends at 7pm, so this will have to do.  

I did not use much of the ruby red, only under the dots of ther scallop and a little in the bouquet. This SU bouquet of hydrangeas is one of my favorite stamps and I love to colour it with my alcohol markers (Tria and Copics).

Modified Christmas cube

After looking at it all day, I decided that the top was too plain, so I added a scalloped trim and a center scalloped circle.

Hero Arts Home Decorating Challenge

I like to do the challenges on the Hero Arts Blog. Last week, the theme was home decorating. I got this new Sizzix die to use with my new Stampin Up Big Shot. (By the way if anyone who reads this is interested in buying my Turquoise and Black Big Shot, email me (louisecharlton@videotron.ca).

So my new die is a cube. I cut the cube out of thin chipboard. I also cut it out of Christmas Decorative paper. I covered the chipboard with it. I stamped the circles with Hero Arts Christmas stamps. I stamped the Hero Arts border on a piece of maroon CS. I scalloped the bottom edge and applied it all around the cube. When I assembled the box, I had to leave the top open to be able to put a hole in the cover for the ribbon, but then it is difficult to glue shut. The tabs don't stay straight. I will have to test this and find a better way to close the box.

Anyway here is my cube! Hoping to do a few of these with the letters N O E L . I will definetely play with this again!

Colour challenge

I recently found the Kristina Werner web site - I know, I know I must be the last one.... LOL.

Ribbons and Lace and pearls oh my!

A card I made for this week's challenge on the Hero Arts Blog: Make a holiday card in the "Shabby and chic" style using ribbons, pearls and lace.
Here is my version:



I used patterned paper that I won last year on Terry Conrad's blog (can't seem to find her blog anymore...). The paper is doubled sided and so beautiful! I have been saving it, but this seems to be a good reason to use it. (Webster's Pages, Ting-a-Ling collection).

I also used some shimmery red CS from my stash (Prism), and some new CS from SU, Baja Breeze. I embossed the red CS with a Cuttlebug die and cut swirls and snowflakes (also Cuttlebug dies). The oval are Nestabilities and I applied a little bit of Adirondak dabber in aqua (a yummy color) on the edge of the red. The blue oval edges were scrapped lightly with the edges of my scissors. The ribbons are some that I have been saving also: BoBunny Bella Journee. The pearls and bling are Hero Arts and so is the "delight" stamp. The edge of the blue border with cut with Fiskars mini scallop scissors.

The Decorative paper was ripped and cut even with the right edge of my card.

Beate's Weekend end challenge (WSC58)

Needed to do a quick card for my son today - He has moved out of the house during the summer and Jim and I have been invited to his and Marissa's new home for dinner tonight. So I've made this little card to go with the gift I bought for them.

My design is based on Beate's weekend sketch no.58

I stamped the image on the right with brown ink and used a waterbrush and the same ink to watercolour the image.
The papers are leftover from 2 Christmases ago and are Cosmo Cricket. The rest is just straight forward.

A little something to share....

Not much to share.... I'm guilty ---- I have been reading instead of stamping.... Reading about the amzing love story of Bella and Edward, the vampire.... finished the third book already, can't wait to start the last one, but at the same time, when I finish reading, they'll be out of my mind.... Anyway, that's why I'm guilty of not stamping....

2 birthday cards

These are two birthday cards that I made for Amy and Josée S who are my friends and members of my SU Club. I have taken photos of some of the other cards that they received, but I don't have them all yet and I forgot to take note of the authors, so I will post them later.

Here are the two that I made:

Josée's card (not SU, except for the greeting).



Amy's card (all SU, except the pearls that are by Kaiser). The greeting on this card was inspired by something that I saw on Beate John's blog. I just loved the idea of placing the greeting in the small oval punch over the beautiful filigree scalloped lozenge. I created my own small greeting on the computer and punched it out with the SU small oval punch. The papers are my favorite so far in the new catalog - called Urban Garden, and in my favorite colours!

Back again and a new card

Just came back from a very relaxing week in the Laurentians in a cute chalet by the lake. I had time to make 14 pages and a card! That is very special for me, because I had not scrapbooked in almost a year... I "created" many pages while teaching, but I had not made any for myself ....

We were lucky, the weather was great for most of the week and when it rained, we scrapbooked - well Julie and I, Jim read his book....
