Ranger / Tim Holtz CHA 2012

I had the pleasure of meeting Tim Holtz again at CHA last week.  He has such a great personality.  No wonder why he is so popular!

CHA SUMMER 2012

Just came back from CHA in Chicago.  So tiring, but so inspiring!  So many nice things and projects to see!  (and some very nice people too!).

I was so lucky... I won a prize in one of my classes (a nice Calendar stamp set), but I also won the Spellbinders grand prize!  10 Spellbinders die sets (I guess about $300 worth of dies).  Lucky me eh!!!
Here is a photo of my pile of dies... (and they are all new dies, not released yet...) Woohoo!

Birdhouses class at Bonnidée

Here is a set of cards for another class at Bonnidée.  This class will be on Sat 28th and Tue July 31st.  Call the store at 514-694-1184 if you are interested in attending.

These cards are done with the new Impression Obsession stamp sets and dies.  The card base is in the shape of a little house.

The third card is my own creation.  That tree is fun to make and uses stamp for the Impression Obsession Tree stamp set.

Backgrounds class at Bonnidée

Happy Birthday Marissa

I have 2 cards to share with you tonight!!!

The first one is a Birthday card for my daughter-in-law Marissa.  She was looking through my cards a while back and pointed out a card made with this Penny Black stamp and mentioned "For my Birthday, that's the stamp I want".  So, here you are Marissa, your own Penny Black "La Soirée" Birthday card.  Happy Birthday Marissa!

To place the ribbon, I pierce a hole with a Stampin'Up discontinued punch and just slip the ribbon under the patterned paper and through the slit.  Then I just added a turquoise gem on the purse.

Make-n-take at Bonnidée this Saturday

Hi everyone!

It's been so long since I've been here! Shame on me...

My friend Bonnie, from Bonnidée, has moved in her new store (in La Palette, 480 Beaconsfield blvd, corner Woodland).

She is having a special Make-n-take day this Saturday July 7th, from 10 am to 2 pm. She has all of the new cut and emboss punches. She will be demo-ing, but you can try any of the punches you want and also do one of the make-n-take. These punches not only cut out the shape but also emboss when they are put into the "waffel maker".

This is only one of the shapes. I particularly like the leaf also....

Magenta Watercolour Class

The following 3 cards are for a class that I will be doing at Bonnidée at the end of the month.  See Bonnidée's website here for details.

Just before I left for Florida at the beginning of April, I attended a show for Retailers in Boston and I took a class with Nathalie from Magenta.

So I did not create those cards, but was inspired by samples that Nathalie had and cards we made in class.

I will give the details after the class is over.  The cards are all done with Magenta stamps and using water colouring techniques, 2 with Tombo markers and 1 with the new Tim Holtz Distress markers.

Wedding card

I did not have a stamp that said "Félicitations", so because I am taking the Die-cuts and Silhouette class with OnLine classes, I got brave and created and cut my greeting on the Silhouette machine.

I was quite happy with the result!!! I will be doing this again!

Details:

The same as the previous card (on my previous post here).
Except the dies I used are by Stampin'Up/Sizzix and I used turquoise Stardream.
Everything else is the same.
The stamp set is Wedding 97892 by Inkadinkado.

Happy Spring!

I'm back!!!  Took a little break from blogging and spent almost 1 month in Florida.  Loved the sun and the sea - It was always difficult to come back to reality and the cooler weather.  I've been working on many new classes at Bonnidée and did a few cards just for me...

I also took an Die Cutting On-line class with Kristine, Jennifer and Nichol.  Loved it!  I'll come back to that again later.

So to start with, here are two cards that I made for a wedding.  I had made a similar card 2 years ago, so I made 2 variations of it.

Details:

The card base is white Stardream card stock.

The image was stamped on Stampin'Up white CS, matted in black CS and Purple Stardream.

The patterned paper is by Me and My Bid Ideas Black and White pad (the black is velours).

The image and mats were cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities Dies.

The white ribbon is Satin White by Stampin'Up.

The pearls are also Stampin'Up coloured lilac with a Copic marker.

The greeting (Vive les Mariés) was stamped in Black on White Stardream cut a Nestabilities oval die.

I coloured around the image with a blue Copic marker and added a few dots of glitter (Glue pen and Stampin'Up Dazzling Diamond Glitter).

Pop-up scallop circle

Just a quick post to show you I card I made with Karen Burniston's Sizzix Scallop Circle Pop-up die.

I saw a card Karen made at the Collins show that I attended recently and I found some similar stamps (I know Karen used Lawn Fawn stamps but I did not access to those).

The stamps I used are by Fiskar. They are actually very nice and very clingly (they are clings not clear - I much prefer that). The set is called "Outdoor fun".

I wish the set had a little dog like Karen's card, but there wasn't any ... Oh well, I think the mushrooms are king of cute...)

I drew the clouds myself, because there wasn't any in the set. I paper pieced most of the images with a 6 x 6 set by My Minds eye - Vanity Fair. The "home sweet home" frame and the beige frame inside were cut with die from a Hero Arts/Sizzix set.

Some of the images were colored with Memento markers.

The background paper is from a DCWV 12 x 12 paper stack called Coral Couture.

Easel and Candy box card

Here is a project I made for a class at Bonnidee.

Thanks to a student who gave me the sample... I made this version for a class (I did not create this project - I copied the sample that was lent to me - thanks Lucia!).

I will give more details once the class is over. But if you are interested, call Bonnidee (514-697-1184).

The class will be given Sat April 21st and Thursday April 26th.

Cut and Tuck Happy Birthday

Here another Birthday card I made for a friend.
I used a die to "cut and tuck" the shape into a circle. I know that Spellbinders makes one now, but the one I used is made by a company that existed at least 10 years ago. We used to cut the shapes from a brass stencil with an X-Acto knife. Now the same company has made dies to speed up the process. You cut it in your die-cutting machine, then tuck in the shapes under one another. And I have a big memory blank - I cannot remember the name of the company.... I will update when I remember.

The cardstock I used a 2-colour Stardream turquoise cardstock (the cardstock is actually darker on one side than the other - perfect for doing this kind of technique).
The black paisley cardstock is, I think, by the Paper cut (on sale at Bonnidee). The reverse side is silver and I used a band of it under the greeting.
The die for the greeting is a Sizzix die. The greeting is by Hero Arts.
The butterfly came from a sheet of butterflies from Graphic 45 (Tropical Travelogue).
I coved it with Glossy Accents, then Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (Stampin'Up).

Happy Easter!!!

Hello and Happy Easter....!

Here is the one and only Easter card I made this year!

Details:

The stamp is by Magenta (C0601-L)
The image was coloured with Distress inks and Memento markers with a watercolour brush (Tea dye distress ink)
The blue background is done with Distress ink (Tumbled glass).
The patterned papers are by My Minds eye (6 x 6 Vanity Fair).
The flowers are by Petaloo called Spring Darjeeling collection.
The cute little carrot is by the Eyelet Outlet (called Vegetable Brads).
The Happy Easter was handwritten with a black marker.
The card (5 1/2 x 5 1/2") is watercolour paper (Canson Cold Press).

More baby shower cards

I was looking over my cards folder on my computer, and found some cards that I forgot to share before Christmas.  A few cards that I made for a Baby shower.  One for me and one for Julie.

The front of the card:

The image is the same as the previous card I made for another shower here.  The image is from Taylored Expressions.  The papers are from a Baby Paper stack - sorry can't remember the name.

Stamp:  Jenn from the Moka Collection, Taylored Expressions

Inked with Memento Tuxedo Black in and colored with Copic Markers.

The dark blue cardbase is Blue Stardream.

The greeting "It's a shower" was computer generated.

The ribbon is white satin from Stampin'Up.

The image and the greeting were outlined with a glue pen and Stampin'Up Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.

The 4 pearls in the corners and the 3 little ones on the greeting are also by Stampin'Up.

Now for the inside of the card:

I love this gift card holder.  I made it with a Sizzix die (created by Karen Burniston - she is a real whiz with Pop-ups and mechanics cards).

The front of the die says "for you", but Karen has instructions on her video here showing how to hide the words. 

The cardstock I used is also Blue stardream and the Patterned paper is from a Baby stack and I forgot the name.

Baby Shower Card

Here I am with my Sunday night post.... I have trying to post a little more often this year...

OK for today's card....  I made this card for Julie's friend Stephanie who is expecting her first baby girl!!!

I bought this stamp set last year at the Consumer show after CHA from Taylored Expressions.
It is fun to color, especially with my Copics markers.

The details:

Stamp:  Jenn from the Moka Collection, Taylored Expressions

Inked with Memento Tuxedo Black in and colored with Copic Markers.

The image was cut was Nestabilities Ovals.

The patterned papers are from a new 8 x8 paper pad I just bought:  First Edition Paper, Spring Drop 

I used the flowered background and 3 other prints (some are back to back) for the scallops on the side.  The scallops were cut with a Stampin'Up scallop border punch.  I also "paper-pieced" her top, then shaded it with Copic Markers.

The card base is Stampin'Up cardstock in Tango Tangerine.

The greeting:  (It's a baby shower) was computer generated and printed on the back of the flowered background.  I cut the end in points as a flag.

The buttons were threaded with Stampin'Up butcher cord and they are old from my supplies (they are Making Memories).

The cream silk ribbon is by Stampin'Up.

When I was all done, I used my glue pen and added glitter all around the white oval and the greeting.

March 7th edit:  Karen Burniston has put on link to my card on her blog here.  Isn't she nice!  She also added her video that I viewed over and over again when I made my card.  So you can see it there also.  And she mentions that although Stampin'Up doesn't sell the Pop-up cake die anymore, Sizzix still does.  So if you are interested, you could get it from Sizzix.  Thanks Karen!  You're the best!  Louise

My son turned 30 today!  Wow that makes me feel old!

I had to make a special card for him, so I spent a few hours (yes, a few hours - sick eh....) making this special card.  We gave it to him at the restaurant this evening and we used it as a Centrepiece...

So here goes:

The outside was left quite simple not to detract with the "flamboyant" interior.

Bobbie's 30th Birthday card

Details:

The colours are a little distorted on this card front.  The card base is a deep shimmery Navy Blue (it looks purple here) (and there is no pink around the card - my photo background was white...)

I used a pale blue piece of cardstock that I distressed all over with a Distress sponge applicator and Distress Broken China ink.  Still using the Distress Broken China ink, I stamped the Clock face from Hero Arts new set CL 579 Special Time all over the background.

Then I stamped the clock on another piece of the blue cardstock with Hero Hues Black ink.

I cut that circle and a bigger one in black cardstock with Sizzix circle dies.

I stamped a greeting from the same "Special time" set with Black ink on Blue Shimmery Cardstock.

I cut the greeting with a new Hero Arts die (size F).  I inked the edges with Broken China Distress ink.

I applied the clock and greeting on the card with foam tape.

Last thing, I applied a black Queen and Co. pearl to the centre of the clock.

Now the inside:

Ta da.....

It is a Sizzix Pop up cake (it was sold by Stampin'Up a few years ago, but it has now been discontinued).

I listened to Karen Burniston's video on how to make it a few times and got going.... 

Below is a view of the cake fully open... (my fingertip is holding the card flat...)

Here is the top of the card... I cut the greeting "Happy Birthday" with my Silhouette machine.

It is a "Hero Arts" digital file.  (I really like this font...).  The scallop borders (top and bottom) were cut with a Stampin'Up Scallop punch.  The stars were cut with 2 sizes Stampin'Up star punches.

Now here is a side view of the card (taken at the restaurant)...

Here are all the details:

First the cardstock I used for the cardbase is Shimmer Navy Blue outside (see above) and black inside.  That suited me perfectly for contrasting with the shimmer blue and aqua that I used.

The cake was cut and reinforced withs Gina K. 120-lb white cardstock.  The cake layers were cut out of Best Creation Ink. Blue and aqua Basic Glitter Paper.  I corrugated 2 of them with a Fiskar Currugator.  Karen mentions in her video that this keeps the layers from looking creased...

The silvery swirls and stars were cut out of Best Creation Ink. Silver Glitter cardstock.  The swirls were cut with a Sizzix Tim Holtz die called Elegant Flourished.  

The top of the cake was decorated with 2 circles back to back punched with a Stampin'Up scallop punch.  The number 30 is made with numbers from Tim Holtz Ideology Alpha Parts.  I used Glossy Accents to glue them to the Glitter scalloped circles.  There are also 2 more back to back stars punched out of the Navy shimmer cardstock.  I added a Stampin'Up rhinestone to the center. 

The mat under the cake was cut with a Sizzix large circle scallop die in a shimmer aqua cardstock.

I forgot to mention that the whole cake was assembled with Red Stickly tape and stapled with Tim Holtz tiny enforcer stapler.
